This year we are starting a "Question(s) of the Month" on the blog. Basically, a question will be posted and we want your comments. If you have any ideas for questions let me know.

2010 Recipe/Card Exchange
It is changing to the first Wednesday of the month since RS meetings are now on the 3rd Thursday. We should note that this exchange started as a neighborhood activity and continues to be, but we like to include it in RS announcements so everyone knows about it. As such, many come that are not in our ward which is a lot of fun. I included the phone numbers for those who are not in our ward so you will know how to get a hold of them or get directions to their home.
On recipe nights, please bring a sample of that month's theme to share and 20 copies of the recipe. On card nights, please bring 10 of the same card if you would like to participate in the card swap. If you don't want to bring either and just want to visit please come. We are skipping July and December. If you have any questions call Heidi Checketts.

A Great Getaway

December Spotlight on Sherrie Mortensen
Here is the full "interview" with Sherrie, isn't she wonderful!
Where you Grew Up:
As the oldest child in my family I moved with my parents quite a bit. They moved to Cache Valley when I was a Junior in High School and I graduated from Sky View High. (There was no Mountain Crest then.)
How many Siblings:
I have two sisters whom I love dearly and a brother that is pretty OK, too. :) I am also lucky that my parents are both still living. :)
Where met husband & # children:
I met David at BYU and it is a miracle that we even had a date since I accidentally embarrassed him in front of his friends pretty thoroughly the first time he asked me out. Ooops!
Degree or Training, or job in addition to mom:
I am still working towards my degree. I quit to support David while he went to school, started again after he graduated, then quit when I became pregnant with Ben (my third child), started again when Raechel was in about third grade, and then quit again when my Mom was diagnosed with cancer and I became her chief meal provider, etc. Five kids at home, a job, and a sick mom gave school the ole one-two punch. I actually plan to start again next fall and hopefully this time I'll get to wear that cap and gown. :)
Without a doubt the most important job I ever held was as a mom. I have five great kids. The oldest and youngest are girls with three boys in the middle. Jeannetta, my oldest daughter informed us when we went to the hospital to have Raechel that if it was another boy, we could just leave him at the hospital. When the kids all got settled in school I chose to add some other jobs. I ran a greeting service business for about five years, I served as the director of Bridgerland Literacy, a valley-wide adult literacy program for eight years, (got a little burned out) and for the last three years I have done double duty as a literacy aide at Wilson Elementary, and worked at the circulation desk at the Logan Library. I love them both!
Hobbies:
I spend a lot of time (more than I should) reading. I love driving my jeep in the summer! (Bring on that unexplored trail!) I dearly love playing, singing, and reading with my six grand kids; and, with my own kids all grown, I am enjoying a little bit of time having David all to myself.
Calling:
Right now I am doing the best I can to serve as the Relief Society President, but over the years I have probably spent the most time serving as the girl's camp director. I know LOTS of camp songs, carried a full pack to the top of Mount Naomi, followed Brother Goff and Brother Bodily on a twenty miler, had an encounter with a bear in the Tetons, and cooked lots of scones and dutch oven dinners. I love the outdoors. :0
My favorite recipe is Costa Vida! :)
